Why did Kristen Kahler start her collection with Cabernet Sauvignon? She knew the name well from her mother’s work, which is no surprise since Napa County, despite its small size, has considerably more acreage planted with Cabernet Sauvignon than any other county in California. Most people agree that Cabernet Sauvignon first appeared in the Napa Valley in 1876.
Exactly 100 years later, California’s best Cabernets were matched against the best of France in what has become known as the “Judgment of Paris.” France and the world were in shock when the California cabs swept the blind taste-tests judgments.
“I’m proud that Kahler Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon is helping to build that reputation today,” Kahler said.
